Hello Girls!
Pampering face skin with natural oils is recognized as the latest most popular beauty trend, which seems to take its place in the cosmetic world for good. I have fallen in love with natural oils as well <3. Oils and their strongly rejuvenating and healing features – in other words, beneficial influence they have on complexion – have been known for centuries. I encourage you to give a go to natural oil’s power because there is no other substance that would supply your skin with a set of precious ingredients, vitamins, minerals, phytosterols as well as other valuable substances like they do. Moreover, they are a source of essential fatty acids which stimulate all possible processes taking place in skin cells.
Which face oil to choose?
Different oils have different features, they are made of different molecules, and content of fatty acids varies, therefore, it’s important to match a particular natural substance to your skin type. In order to help you with this task, I’ve made a short list of tips concerning which oil serves which face skin type best.
- Oil for mature skin/anti-age oil – it’s suggested reaching for the oils which feature antioxidant features: Argan Oil, Shea Butter, Rapeseed Oil, Walnut Oil, Passion Fruit Oil as well as Opuntia Oil which is recognized as a substance delivering moisturisation and combating free radicals. Other oils for mature skin, which can also be used by people with dry skin, are: Macadamia Oil, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Hazelnut Oil.
- Oil for acne skin – Tamanu Oil and Jojoba Oil don’t only accelerate wound healing processes and encourage disappearance of post-acne marks but also are able to regulate work of sebaceous glands and soothe skin. Moreover, a good oil that might be used by people suffering from acne is Camellias Oil because it is characterised by its anti-bacterial features. Also, this oil is known for facilitating performance of sebaceous glands.
- Oil for combination skin – when it comes to this skin type, you can reach for the same oils recommended for treating acne skin or go for delicate oils such as Marula Oil, Almond Oil and Avocado Oil. The latter oil supplies skin with essential vitamins (this Avocado Oil contains 7 vitamins). Basically, Safflower Oil and Sesame Oil do wonders, too.
- Oil for dry skin – one of the most frequently recommended natural substance for treating dry skin is Coconut Oil, Linseed Oil, Hazelnut Oil and this indispensable Jojoba Oil which maintains the hydro-lipid barrier of dry skin and prevents water loss. Here goes a fun fact for you: Jojoba Oil as the only one shouldn’t be categorized as oil š The truth is, Jojoba Oil is a liquid the composition of which is similar to human sebum.
- Oil for sensitive skin – Marula Oil is recognized as one of the best natural substances to treat sensitive skin type. It relieves irritations and protects from any possible irritations. Equally good action is delivered by Sweet Almond Oil and Apricot Seed Oil. These two oils are so delicate that you can use them to treat super delicate skin of kids.
Also, I would like to present you two extra application techniques of face oils. Personally, I recommend both methods:
- Oil to cleanse face skin – I guess you are aware of the fact that natural oil can be used in the form of a make-up remover. Thanks to oils, you can free your face skin form make-up cosmetics, but that’s not all. Despite making your face clean, you will also supply face skin with an array of conditioning substances. Basically, oils deliver detoxifying action to skin and precisely get rid of colour cosmetic residues and other impurities that happen to gather on face.
- Oils as add-in ingredients to face masks – another cool feature of natural oils is the fact that they can be used as a homemade cosmetic base (e.g. added to my beloved cosmetic clay). If you dream about using charcoal mask, go to a pharmacy, buy activated charcoal, crush a few pills of this black substance and mix it with a drop of Jojoba Oil. Your face mask is ready š
Last but not least, here are a few very important tips that have to be taken into consideration while using oils in daily face care.
Face oils – What should you know about them?
- Oils should be applied to damp skin. Indeed, you can use water but it would be better if you go for a herbal water, toner or just a herbal infusion and make your face damp with such product before applying an oil.
- Oils should be stored in a dark bottle so as to prevent them from going rancid and help them preserve the features longer.
- Oils you want to apply to the face must ALWAYS be non-refined and cold-pressed.
- Oils are frequently described as a silver bullet for all the ailments affecting hair and skin, especially dry type. After all, oils are fats, so they are expected to influence dehydrated skin positively. Unfortunately, the issue here is that oils are runny. This type of consistency makes oils strong cleansing agents. This means that oil bonds lipids located in skin and removes them. The result is that skin becomes even more dehydrated. For that very reason, it’s better not to apply them as individual cosmetics but treat them as an additional layer applied underneath a light cream or balm.
- Oil or face cream? – Of course both! No oil may replace cream but it will facilitate the cosmetic’s action; sometimes an oil is able to intensify a cream’s power. Remember about the runny consistency of oils and that they are able to cleanse skin profoundly and detoxify it.
