How to arrange your own home SPA for feet?
In order to make your feet and nails ready for the treatment, you must remove the varnish carefully and trim the nails. I suggest you not to round the corners of nails so as to prevent them from ingrowing.
1. FOOT BATH
Okay, your feet are ready for the bath. In general, a foot bath has many benefits: it makes a great way to relax, soothes pain, relieves skin fatigue and combas bacteria. Thanks to many beauty products that we already have in our bathroom and kitchen, we can solve these and other problems really quickly. In order to prepare a foot bath, you have to throw selected ingredients to a bowl filled with warm water. Now, all you have to do is sit back and put the feet into water. What’s important, make sure that the water isn’t too hot so as to prevent skin dehydration. Your bath shouldn’t take more than fifteen or twenty minutes. Below you’ll find recipes for my favorite foot baths:
- Foot bath with salt
No matter the salt you choose, such bath will soften your epidermis. You can go for refreshing, medicinal, relaxing or regular food salt. - Foot bath with baking soda
Dissolve five or six spoons of soda in a bowl. Baking soda helps soften this hard heel skin and also has an disinfecting effect. I guess it’s also worth mentioning that foot bath with soda taken every day combats excessive perspiration. - Herbal foot bath
Depending on your needs, you can make use of various herbs. For example, if your feet perspire excessively, go for thyme, rosemary and lavender. If your shoes chafed your feet, reach for mint or elderberry. Sage, oak bark, horsetail will help any skin breaks heal faster. Fatigued feet will be grateful for a chamomile bath. In order to prepare herbal foot bath, you need to pour an infusion of chosen herbs to a bowl of warm water. - Refreshing foot bath
Add lemon juice, two spoons of oils and fat milk, and teaspoon of cinnamon to a bowl of warm water. - Moisturizing foot bath
In order to prepare it, combine 1/4 cup of warm water, lemon juice and milk. Then add two spoons of olive oil and a pinch of cinnamon. - Dry foot bath
Combine a half cup of coconut milk with three cups of pineapple juice. Pour the mixture to a bowl of water.
2. FOOT SCRUBS
The next step is foot scrub that boosts blood flow and smooths skin out after bathing. The good news is that you can make foot scrub with the ingredients you already have at home. Here are my recipes for a foot exfoliating cosmetic:
- Marine salt foot scrub
Mix a half cup of marine salt, 3/4 cup of cream and a few drops of natural essential oil. Since this is a scrub with fairly big abrasive grains, it may leave skin irritated. For that reason, you shouldn’t use this scrub frequently. - Sugar foot scrub
Combine a spoon of fine sugar, a half spoon of cinnamon and two spoons of honey. Now, you can use the mixture to massage your feet gently. - Poppy foot scrub
Mix 1/3 cup of poppy, two spoons of olive oil and lemon juice each, and one spoon of potato starch and sugar.
3. FOOT CREAM
Once you finish exfoliating dead epidermal cells and rinse the scrub, coat your feet with a thick layer of moisturizing cream. The effects will be even better if you put on special socks because warmth facilitates absorption of the nutrients.
